Gentle Gel

Gentle Gel

Some people feel tVNS more than others. Gentle Gel smooths the sensation without reducing stimulation intensity -- better conductivity means more even contact across the electrode surface.

A small dab on each electrode before your session. Wash off with warm water afterwards. 5g tube lasts approximately 30-40 sessions.

Ingredients: Polyoxyethylene (20) cetyl ether, Montmorillonite, water, glycerol, lanolin, 1,2-propanediol, potassium chloride, sodium chloride, Polysorbate 20, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and propyl p-hydroxybenzoate.

How it works

Better connection, less sensation

Gentle Gel improves the electrical contact between your electrodes and your skin. This distributes the current more evenly, so stimulation reaches the nerve efficiently while the surface tingling is noticeably reduced.

1

Apply a tiny amount

A grain-of-rice sized amount on each electrode is all you need. The gel spreads easily and creates a thin, even layer.

2

Clip on as normal

Attach your ear clip to the tragus as you always do. The gel sits between the electrode and your skin, improving the connection instantly.

3

Stimulate in comfort

Enjoy the same therapeutic intensity with a softer, more comfortable sensation. After your session, wash electrodes with warm soapy water.

The science is simple

Electrical stimulation works by passing a current between two electrodes through your skin. Dry skin has relatively high resistance, which concentrates the current at small contact points — this is what causes the sharp tingling feeling.

Gentle Gel fills the microscopic gaps between the electrode and your skin, dramatically increasing the effective contact area. The same current spreads over a larger surface. Same signal to the nerve. Softer feeling on the skin.

Without gel
Current concentrates at small contact points. More tingling, less comfort.
With Gentle Gel
Current spreads evenly. Same intensity, noticeably softer sensation.

Water works too

Here is something we think you should know: you can also use plain water. Dampening the electrodes or your ear with a drop of water before clipping on will improve conductivity and reduce some of the tingling sensation.

Many experienced users switch to water once they are accustomed to the feeling. Gentle Gel provides a more consistent, even connection than water alone — which is why it is especially helpful for new users or anyone who finds the sensation distracting. But we would rather you know all your options than sell you something you do not strictly need.

Questions and honest answers

Does using Gentle Gel reduce the effectiveness of stimulation?

No. Gentle Gel does not reduce the effectiveness of stimulation. In fact, it improves it. By increasing the conductivity of the connection, more of the electrical signal reaches the vagus nerve rather than being resisted by the skin surface. The gel reduces the skin sensation — the tingling feeling — not the therapeutic stimulation itself. You get the same benefits with greater comfort.
